ABOUT SNIF LIPOFILLING AND NANOFATS

History and development:

Fat filling techniques are now well known and are used to treat loss of volume in the face in particular. These lipofilling techniques have evolved towards the use of smaller and smaller fat cells in order to reduce the potential irregularities that somewhat alter the result.

The techniques used include microfilling, also known as SNIF (Sharp Needle Intradermal Fat Grafting), which uses smaller fat cells injected into the dermis using microcannulas to fill deep wrinkles: the fat is then used as a genuine permanent filler, unlike hyaluronic acid, which resorbs after around 10 months. This treatment can also be used to treat the free edge of the lips (vermilion) and increase the volume and definition of the philtrum (upper lip).

Nanofats are the ultimate evolution of microfilling and serve as a genuine living mesotherapy composed of stem cells. These stem cells not only have the capacity to rejuvenate the skin but also to retain their potential to develop into fat cells, hence their potential use in mesotherapy to improve skin tone and texture, reduce hyperpigmentation and diminish fine lines!

Use of nanofats in medicine and cosmetic surgery:

Nanofats, given their regenerative power thanks to the stem cells and growth factors they contain, can be used in the following indications: correction of vicious or poor-quality scars, whether or not in conjunction with surgery, treatment of skin fine lines, attenuation of melanocytic hyperpigmentation and/or dark circles, improvement in the texture of the skin on the neck and décolleté, improvement in the quality of the skin on the hands, breast reconstruction (nanofats are then used to improve the vascularisation of the irradiated skin, enabling a skin expander to be fitted 6 months after treatment).

Treatment methods:

Since nanofat treatment is technically inspired by lipofilling, these 2 treatments can usually be carried out together, but the treatments can be dissociated from each other.

The operation is performed under local anaesthetic, possibly assisted by the injection of a powerful relaxant. The surgeon removes fat from the abdomen and/or flanks, which ensures the best quality fat. A small incision is made in the abdomen and then closed with 2 very small threads that leave little or no trace. The fat is then prepared for use as a “permanent filler” for loss of volume in the cheekbones, temples and around the eyes, as well as in the nasolabial folds, bitterness folds and chin. The surgeon then prepares the nanofats for mesotherapy treatment, which will be effective in the areas described above: dark circles around the eyes or other areas of hyperpigmentation, upper and lower lips for fine lines, hands and décolleté if necessary. The results of lipofilling are immediately visible, whereas the nanofat treatment is most effective 6 to 8 months after treatment. The treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis.
